Dear YOU,

I have always prided myself of my ability to be practical. I am logical and I always have an answer to everything. I am sure and I think outside the box. I am careful to never jump to conclusions lest I find myself jumping into the wrong one, especially when it involves my feelings.

But YOU! You have thrown me off-balance. I have become an emotional mess. I am starting to realize the depth to which you affect me and that scares me so.

You invade my thoughts, you invade my waking moment.
I see you even when I close my eyes.
I panic at the though of actually meeting up with you.
All my crazy, spontaneous comebacks and retorts pop like bubbles when you speak with such sincerity.

You don't just see, you look into my soul.
You don't just hear, you listen to my heart.
You don't just talk, you speak with honesty, without pretense, without judgement.

You don't know just how much my heart beats when you do that. Your smile is imprinted on my brain. My knees turn to jelly. The butterflies in my tummy get all stirred up. You reduce me into nothing more but a school girl with a big crush.

That is how you affect me. And I can only hope that I make you feel the littlest bit like that.

Your emotional wreck,
Queen

Dear You,

I’m not easy to shut up. It takes a lot to render me speechless. It is effortless on my part to exude that tough exterior. And more than that, a blushing me is as rare as Halley’s comet.

Thus I wonder…

How is it that you can do so, so effortlessly?

How is it that a simple word or phrase from you can catch me off guard? You make me blush without me even realizing it.

With you, I am a giggling school girl. Gone is the well put together me. With you, I am me – a blushing, giggly me.

Utterly confused and definitely flabbergasted,
me

Dear Future Boyfriend,

I met someone. I kinda like him and I think he kinda likes me too. (Actually, I really hope he does.)

So if you're done with your anonymity, I'd be great to formally meet you. If you turn out to be my "I kinda like guy", truth be told, I'd be over the moon.

If not, well...nothing I can really do about that. But please, tell me you're waiting for me out there - that even if neither of us do not recognize each other's beat yet, we will someday. Assure me that I am not riding into an abyss, or that is what will become of my heart.

With love,

me

Dear Person-Who-Might-Want-to-Listen,

I believe in love. I believe in all the cheesy-ness and corny-ness that comes with it. I am fairly level-headed, practical and even overly analytic and realistic to a fault. I over think and I never take things at face value. I strive to arrive and exhaust all logical explanation possible. But all truths be dammed, I believe in love.

However, I also believe that it isn't made for everyone to experience. A lucky few get to have that great love story whose tale will be passed down from generation to generation. One where a man and a woman seamlessly blend in together – a grand love of excitement and tribulations that end in a happy ending. Many others will experience the more simplistic kind and that’s just as great.

But life is not a fairy tale nor is it a play. Love is not made for everyone.

I recently came across a short article posted by Ashlin Horne. The title read, “You’re Not a ‘Plan B’ Kind of Girl”.

“Good girls don’t have to finish last” she said.
“He’ll fight and use labels or poems or the Goodyear blimp to show you that you’re just the right fit for that open place in his heart. That no other piece will do.” She said.

And while all those things are true, there are times when one simply can’t help but wonder whether those hand-written notes will ever come.

So yes, I do. I really do believe in love. I just hope it believes in me too.

Dear YOU,

Yes, you.

I like you. I really do. And I've been receiving signals that you like me too.

So, what's stopping you? A girl can only do so many moves you know, especially in this predominantly "male -makes-the-first-move" culture of ours. Well, technically you did do the first move. But a girl's always unsure until you actually set things in stone. I've had my fair share of heartaches and I don't exactly dream of going through it again. But for you, I'd be willing to take the risk.

Make good on your promise. I am already on the look out. I am waiting for you. And just so you know, you don't need to "come for me". My heart is already yours for the taking.

Always,
Skylark

Dear Future Boyfriend,

I've always believed that love should not be rushed; that there's more to life than just romance. And I don't think my belief on that will change anytime soon.

But sometimes, during random moments in the daily course of my life, I think about you. It crosses my mind how nice it would be if you had your arms around me or how comforting it must feel to lay my head on your shoulder.

And it is during these times that I wish you had already come into my life.

You won't make me wait too long, will you?

Love,
Skylark
